Happy Canada Day! 

Just to refresh your memory, on July 1, 1867, the nation was officially born when the Constitution Act joined three provinces into our beloved country of Canada. In fact, this year is our 150th anniversary!

This holiday is the perfect excuse to go all out & enjoy parades, festivals, picnics, sporting events and firework displays!

That’s why we’ve put together this list of Canada Day Celebrations & events for 2017! 


1. Pancake Breakfast 

Where: Centennial Park
When: July 1st 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM

"Canmore Rotary is bringing in the Calgary Stampede for a real “Canadian Breakfast”. The breakfast is free for everyone, donations are welcome! Think green and help us reduce waste: Please bring your own plate!!"

Live Entertainment on Stan Rogers Stage during the breakfast:

8:30am-9:30am Bow Valley Dixieland Band
9:45am to 10:30am Bow Valley Boys
10:30am – 11:00am Bow Valley Line Dance Group


2. Canmore Parade

Where: Main Street
When: July 1st starting at 12:00 PM

"Canada is turning 150 and we are celebrating"

There will be a float contest where the theme is Looking Back, Looking Forward & judges will be looking for thematic relevance, creative expression, creative effort and degree of decorating difficulty. You won't want to miss it! 

3. Fireworks

Where: Millenial Park (10 min walk from Centennial Park) When: July 1st at 10:30 PM

"This year for the first time with music! Get the gang together and head down to Millennium Park for the show, a virtual pyrotechnic extravaganza that will pop thunder and flash across the sky and echo off the mountain."

4. Canada Day Fun Run

Where: Centennial Park
When: July 1st at 9:00 AM

"Choose from 3, 5 and 10km distances in support of Canmore Nordic Ski Club. Enjoy a free Rotary Club pancake breakfast (mentioned above) and kids obstacle course."

5. Mountain Made Canada Day Market

Where: Civic Centre Plaza
When: July 1st from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

"A craft and artisan market with locally made crafts, art, food and fun."
